Liverpool have completed the signing of Dominik Szoboszlai from RB Leipzig after triggering the midfielder’s £60 million release clause.
Szoboszlai has signed a five-year deal at Anfield after impressing in Germany.
“It’s really, really good. I enjoyed the last [few] days and I’m looking forward to knowing everybody better,” Szoboszlai told the Liverpool website.
“The last three or four days went really long; it was not that easy. But at the end I’m here, I’m happy and I can’t wait to get started.
“[A] really historic club, really good players, good coach, everything is good. For me it was perfect to make the next step in a club like this. The fans, the stadium, everything is really good.”
The Hungary international was instrumental in Leipzig’s German Cup triumph and third-place Bundesliga finish last season.
The 22-year-old scored 10 goals and provided 13 assists in 46 appearances across all competitions, which included a run to the Champions League last 16.
Szoboszlai joined Leipzig after a successful two-and-a-half year spell with Red Bull Salzburg, where he was named Austrian Bundesliga Player of the Season in 2019/20 after helping his side win the title.
Injury stalled his start to life in Germany, but on his return Szoboszlai quickly became a key figure, making 45 appearances in 2021/22 and winning the German Cup.

The midfielder’s switch was the second move of the summer between the clubs, after winger Fabio Carvalho joined Leipzig on a season-long loan on Friday.
Szoboszlai becomes Liverpool’s second signing of the summer, and their second midfield reinforcement, following the arrival of World Cup-winning midfielder Alexis Mac Allister from Brighton.
