Photo: Wolves confirm 26-year-old finally returned to match action yesterday after 10 months

Yesterday, Wolves striker Sasa Kalajdzic took to the field for the first time since he suffered a serious knee injury 10 months ago.

Wanderers faced League One side Blackpool at Compton Park in two separate 60-minute matches at Compton Park.

According to Blackpool’s website, the first game finished 2-0 to Wolves and the second finished 4-0 to Blackpool.

Pablo Sarabia and Matheus Cunha got the goals for Wanderers in the first.

It was another opportunity for the players to get minutes into the legs and increase match sharpness.

These games are chances for players to get up to speed, and also make an impression on Julen Lopetegui.

One man who’ll be itching to do that is Kalajdzic.

Sasa Kalajdzic makes long-awaited return to match action for Wolves

Wolves have not released information about the teams that were put out yesterday.

But they have uploaded a picture of Kalajdzic in action.

This was the first time Kalajdzic had played since suffering that ACL injury on his debut against Southampton last September.

The Austria international fell awkwardly after an aerial duel against the Saints.

He played on for a bit in that game. But it later transpired that he had suffered ACL damage, and the striker underwent surgery.

He would not play again for the rest of the season, with Lopetegui being forced to leave him out of his updated Premier League squad.

It is exciting to see Kalajdzic finally back in match action for Wolves.

Wolves struggled throughout 2022/23 in the final third, and who knows how the season could have gone had Kalajdzic not suffered that injury.

He pretty much feels like a new signing for the club.

Hopefully, Lopetegui can get the best out of him and the service into him can be good.

Wolves have some great crossers of the ball such as Pedro Neto and Hugo Bueno.

And two more could be coming in in the form of Matt Doherty and Aaron Cresswell.
