Report: Everton could sign land highly-rated teenage attacker, talks underway

Everton are in talks to sign Malik Mothersille on a permanent deal.

That’s according to The Athletic, who have reported that the Toffees have already agreed trial forms with Chelsea until they can complete negotiations

Mothersille joined Chelsea U18s from Leyton Orient three years ago and has since come up through the ranks as an exciting young player at Stamford Bridge, finishing the 2021-22 campaign as the U18s top goalscorer and netting four goals in last season’s Papa John’s Trophy.

The 19-year-old is now out of contract at Chelsea after failing to agree a new deal despite several months of talks. The Blues are due compensation as he is an academy-trained player, while the two clubs remain deep in discussions as they look to avoid the deal going to an arbitration panel just yet.

In the mean time, Mothersille arrives on Merseyside on trial and made a cameo appearance in Everton U21’s 4-0 defeat to Liverpool on Monday evening.

The attacker still has offers from clubs across Europe, however there is optimism at Everton that they can get a permanent deal done for the youngster.

The 17-year-old, who also attracted interest from Manchester City, completed a £4 million move to Stamford Bridge last month and Mothersille could now go the other way.

The teenager will be hoping he can be one of a number of young players that can impress on Merseyside, with the likes of Tom Cannon and Lewis Dobbin impressing in recent times.
