‘I don’t see’: Paul Merson now makes score prediction for Wolves vs Brighton

Wolves are back in Premier League action on Saturday against Brighton at Molineux, and are looking to get off the mark.

Wanderers were extremely unlucky to lose against Manchester United on Monday.

Many people expected Wolves to pitch up and really struggle, given Gary O’Neil had just a few days with the players after Julen Lopetegui left.

But Wolves put in a brilliant performance and played with bravery and style.

But the finishing cost Wolves – and O’Neil will be looking for a big improvement in the final third on Saturday.

Lots of people have now revised their predictions about Wolves this season after seeing them against United.

But Paul Merson still believes there is one glaring issue for Wolves, as he made his score prediction for this weekend’s game with Brighton.

Wolves welcome Brighton on Saturday, and this will be a far tougher game than on Monday against United.

Brighton under Roberto De Zerbi have been excellent, and they have a number of brilliant players in their team.

They beat Luton Town 4-1 last weekend, and will be feeling confident heading into this one.

In the eyes of pundit Merson, the potency in attack of the two teams will be a key factor. He can’t look past a Brighton win.

Predicting a 2-0 win for the Seagulls, he said (Sportskeeda): “Wolves were outstanding against Manchester United last weekend. But it’s the same old story. They’re outstanding from box to box but they just can’t score a goal. Meanwhile, their Saturday opponents Brighton were expected to take Luton Town to the cleaners last weekend and they did just that.

“I don’t see Brighton not scoring and I don’t see Wolves scoring either. They played some of their best football against United and still couldn’t get on the scoresheet. I don’t see how they can do it against a solid Brighton side.”

Saturday’s game will be at Molineux, and if the players can replicate the same level of performance as on Monday, then surely we will be seeing a few goals, with the crowd behind the team.

Brighton are a top team, but they’ve lost two key players in Moises Caicedo and Alexis Mac Allister.

O’Neil will see this as a potential area for joy for Wolves, with the likes of Mario Lemina, Joao Gomes, Matheus Nunes operating in those midfield areas
