‘Disaster’ – Sky Sports pundit reveals what Everton need in new midfield transfer verdict

Sky Sports pundit reveals what Everton need as new transfer verdict shared

Clinton Morrison believes Everton need to sign a creative midfielder this summer as Abdoulaye Doucoure is being played out of position.

Speaking on Sky Sports’ Soccer Saturday on 26 August, the pundit said the Mali international is the wrong player to be playing in the number 10 role as he is more of a central midfielder.

Morrison believes the Blues don’t currently have a creative player to play in behind the striker, which he claims is a “recipe for disaster” as they fell to a 1-0 defeat against Wolves at Goodison Park on 26 August.

“I like Doucoure as a midfielder, he’s playing in the number 10 position to create stuff – that’s not Doucoure’s game,” he said.

“They need someone that can create something – he’s a box-to-box player. He’s not a creative number 10 and that’s what I think they’re lacking at the moment – someone to create chances and put it in the back of the net.

“That’s a recipe for disaster if you haven’t got anyone that can create or put it in the back of the net.”

Worrying

It will no doubt be a worry to all those associated with Everton that they can’t find the back of the net after failing to score in their opening three Premier League games of the season.

Morrison is right to point out that the Toffees need a creative midfielder as they currently don’t really have a number 10 that can unlock defences.

While it’s a forward’s job to score goals, they need someone in behind them that can get their foot on the ball and show the quality required to unlock defences.

The focus for Sean Dyche over the course of the next few days should be to try and bring in one of those players, but it could be difficult with the Blues’ current financial troubles.

Another game has gone by where the Toffees haven’t been able to pick up any points or even score a goal, so there will be plenty of worried supporters on Merseyside at this moment in time.

In other Everton news, a pundit has been involved in an on-air debate with a fan after a bizarre Toffees relegation claim was made.
