According to a Sky Sports journalist, Leeds United has enough cash to execute a last-minute transfer for Celtic playmaker.

With money, Leeds United can complete Matt O’Riley’s transfer from Celtic.

Tim Thornton claims that Leeds United does have the money to make a last-minute transfer for Celtic playmaker Matt O’Riley before the deadline.

The Sky Sports reporter claimed on Friday, September 1 that Daniel Farke’s team does have the resources to conclude a deal for the 22-year-old midfielder, despite the fact that their approaches haven’t yet persuaded the Scottish powerhouses to part with their player.

There are questions about whether Leeds will be able to lure O’Riley away from Celtic Park given that they have already strengthened their midfield in recent days with the additions of Glen Kamara and Ilia Gruev.

In an interview with Give Me Sport, Thornton commented on the transfer’s status, saying, “I think that’s the issue with a lot of the players they’ve targeted, it’s whether they can get them out of the clubs, now that they’re not Premier League club longer.

The fact that he would be leaving Celtic to play in the Championship makes it harder to recruit players. Is that appealing to players? Others might not think that is a good thing. So, in my opinion, that only makes things harder.

“Players are simple to recognize, but it can be challenging to actually get them out of the clubs. The cost won’t be a problem, in my opinion. If necessary, I believe Leeds could complete the transaction.

With Leeds presumably financially able to obtain the services of O’Riley but uncertainty surrounding his interest in moving to Elland Road, this deadline deal really might go either way between now and the deadline of 11 p.m.

It is not a particularly catastrophic issue if Leeds are to miss out on the Celtic maestro and his signing would merely be a bonus addition now that Farke and those above him have made sure to guarantee their midfield has been bolstered with the signings of Kamara and Gruev.

A transfer to Elland Road isn’t quite the same as a conventional transfer to a Championship team since Leeds, who looked strong this summer and kept their best players, appear likely to compete for a return to the Premier League in the near future.

With plenty of interest in some of the Whites’ players and still a few targets on the 49ers and Farke’s shopping list, it will probably be a busy night as the summer window closes at Elland Road. O’Riley could have time to travel south of the border.
