UPDATE: Date changes for Wolves next game at Molineux

The date and time of Wolves’ opening Premier League matchup against West Midlands rivals Aston Villa have been changed.

The game between the two clubs was originally scheduled to take place on Saturday, October 7, at Molineux, but it was postponed by 23 hours since the visitors were competing in a European match on the preceding Thursday evening.

On Sunday, October 8 at 2 p.m. at Molineux, Gary O’Neil’s team will now play Villa. Despite the change of date to Sunday, there won’t be a live broadcast in the UK.

Kenny criticizes the ‘extremely draconian’ suspension of Doherty

Stephen Kenny entering last chance saloon as Ireland boss - SundayWorld.com

The manager of the Republic of Ireland, Stephen Kenny, has stated that he believes the decision by UEFA to increase Matt Doherty’s suspension from one to two games is “incredibly harsh.” This happened after Doherty’s suspension, which had previously been for one game in June, was lengthened by UEFA’s Control, Ethics, and Disciplinary Body.

The Wolverhampton Wanderers player was sent off as Ireland fell to Greece 2-1 in June. Giorgos Tzavellas, a Greek player, was knocked to the ground by Doherty, who then challenged Kostas Tsimikas, a Liverpool player.

In advance of the Euro 2024 qualifying matches against France and the Netherlands next month, Doherty’s absence will be another disappointment for Stephen Kenny.

Seamus Coleman, Ireland’s squad captain, is already out of the country for these key matches against France and Dublin.

When asked how he felt about the decision to increase the sentence from one to two games, Kenny said, “I was really disappointed with that.”

“To be very honest, I just see the situation as a yellow card offense. In order to get Matt sent off, he moved over and picked up the player who had fallen.

He will now miss two matches as a result. It is really severe. We have a very good history with discipline; we haven’t had any players sent off in a very long time. Receiving a two-match suspension doesn’t seem fair or consistent with other situations.

Kenny said that they tried to get legal advice to stop the extended restriction, but their efforts were unsuccessful.

I talked to our legal department. They believed we didn’t have a case under the regulations to appeal, despite the fact that we had multiple discussions about it,” he continued.

Festy Ebosele, a right wingback for Udinese, and midfielders Alan Browne and Jason Knight could have an impact the next week. In the encounter against France on September 7, Kenny thinks they must choose the best player to mark Mbappe.

We don’t have many traditional right-wing backs, but we do have a few players who can fill that role. We’ll decide it on game night since we’ll be facing off against a strong player like (Kylian) Mbappe, so we need to be sure we pick well.
