Gary Lineker has revealed his thoughts on West Ham’s good start to the season, while Jermaine Jenas has been impressed by their summer purchases.
On Match of the Day on 2 September (1:21), host Gary Lineker claimed the Hammers have “reasons to be cheerful” after their 2-1 victory over Luton Town on Friday (1 September), which kept their unbeaten start to the season intact.
Jenas has also been thrilled by the Irons’ start to the season, predicting a “positive year” for the club following the purchases they made during the transfer window.
“They obviously had that incredible European success last year, but the Premier League wasn’t as good as they hoped it was going to be,” Jenas said.
“I think they’ve added really top players to their ranks now with the Declan Rice stuff.” The team is looking strong, and they’ve had a strong start to the season. “I believe this will be a fantastic year for West Ham fans.”

Nobody will want to overreact, but David Moyes would have snatched your hand off if he had been given this opportunity a month ago, when there were serious doubts about our ability to compete this year.
Given the present form, the international break may not have been the ideal choice, but it will offer the Irons manager an opportunity to work with the players to try to build on our strong start to the season.
