Report:– Leeds United deal “already planned” after summer agreement was sealed

Despite only signing a loan deal in the summer, Leeds United centre-back Robin Koch is already part of Eintracht Frankfurt’s long-term plans.

Robin Koch to fight his way back into Germany's squad as a defensive midfielder - Bavarian Football Works

With the summer window closing at the beginning of September, there was a big sense of satisfaction that Leeds and Daniel Farke had put an end to a hectic period.

Relegation was always going to result in wholesale changes to the squad, but the manner in which players were loaned out due to contract conditions was repulsive.

What is the situation with Robin Koch in Germany?

Robin Koch’s shamefully insincere social media remark after departing on loan for Eintracht Frankfurt set the tone for a number of other summer exits, with the German center-back returning to a more suitable environment for his ability.

He is currently unbeaten in the Bundesliga with his new club, but he only has six points from four beneficial games, with one win and three 1-1 draws – all four games against teams that finished below them or in the second tier last season.

Robin Koch is having a rough afternoon for Eintracht this afternoon. He clattered his own goalie, giving Mainz the lead, and was just cautioned for a foolish lunge on the sideline.

What’s the most recent news?

According to SportBild, arrangements are already in place to make Koch a permanent signing at Frankfurt, with the centre-back being the only player in their roster who is not formally owned by the Bundesliga club:

“For the first time in years, all stars belong to Eintracht, no one is borrowed – with the exception of Robin Koch (27/Leeds), who has a fixed contract starting in 2024.” Furthermore, just a few players, such as Ellyes Skhiri (28), have a departure clause – none of the elite talents. Furthermore, all regular players under the age of 30 are under contract for at least another three years.”

This implies that Frankfurt is seeking to generate more and more cash through sales than previously, having tasted success with Randall Kolo-Muani’s €95 million profit a year after signing him for free.

Koch is regarded as one of those players who will increase the value of his team for many years to come.

It’s a shame that we’re unlikely to get much money for Koch, whose contract expires next summer, but good riddance in any case.

He wasn’t nearly good enough for the Premier League, and we’ve really outperformed him with the addition of Joe Rodon.

We have a center-back of comparable height, but with actual aerial presence and greater possession quality.
