Dominic Solanke of AFC Bournemouth talks about his new deal and parenthood.
Dominic Solanke, a CHERRIES talisman, believes he has “a lot more to give” after signing a new contract with the club.
Forward Solanke opened the season with two goals and an assist in his first four Premier League games, earning him a one-year contract extension despite strong interest from other Premier League clubs.
The contract extension came in the same week that the Solanke family welcomed firstborn Amaya into the world and celebrated the Cherries striker’s 26th birthday.
“I think that was probably the best week of my life,” Solanke admitted.
“Honestly, becoming a father is one of the greatest accomplishments and blessings I could have asked for.”
“Another big blessing was signing my contract, which was a proud moment for me and my family.”
“Of course, there’s also the birthday.”
When asked if he believed he was in the best shape of his career, Solanke said, “I think definitely since I’ve (been) playing in the Premier League, I probably feel a lot more confident.”
“Especially the first time, and I’m feeling good about myself.” I still believe I have a lot more to offer.
“So I’m looking forward to the rest of the season.”
“It’s a good start, so hopefully I can stay fit and achieve a few more goals, especially (more) than last year.”
When asked about parenthood, Solanke said, “It’s such a blessing.”
“And you realize you’re living your life for her now.”
“So, I believe I’ve matured; I’m a lot more mature now.” But, sure, it’s a wonderful sensation.”
