Following a dismal 3-2 loss to Legia Warsaw in the Europa Conference League on Wednesday, Villa bounced back with a win.

The pivotal moment, though, belonged to Ollie Watkins, who snapped a 12-game goal drought. When the opportunity presented itself, the former Brentford striker took full advantage of it, sending a low shot from a seemingly impossible angle beneath Chelsea goalie Sanchez.

Watkins spun away after scoring with a Grealish-like [fingers-in-ears] celebration while (social media) rumors circulated about his contract situation.

This was a much-needed win, and the inclusion of Villa’s key players in the starting XI confirms the notion that the core group has a lot of potential.

Although Chelsea are now struggling, it shouldn’t be forgotten that our rivals have spent over £1 billion on quality over the past few transfer windows. However, it was apparent today which side was ascending.
