Collingwood utility player exits as the Pies’ roster change begins.

 

A Magpies defender seemed to leave Olympic Park after saying goodbye in an emotional tweet on social media on Wednesday night.

utility worker, age 21 Following Collingwood’s championship victory, Trey Ruscoe appeared to have been removed from the club’s roster as it transitioned to its off-season list management program.

East Fremantle native Ruscoe, who was selected in the fourth round of the 2019 National Draft, managed 18 AFL games for the Magpies.

While neither a delisting nor a likely retirement have been officially announced by Collingwood, Ruscoe’s Instagram post from Wednesday night strongly suggests he won’t be a Magpie next season, and other teammates have responded with supportive comments.

“Wow, what a journey it has been,” Ruscoe wrote on Instagram. “I’ve had the opportunity to play at such a fantastic club, and I’ve met some terrific individuals along the way for whom I am simply so grateful.

When Ruscoe’s departure becomes official, it will be the first off-season list alteration for Collingwood since it defeated Brisbane in the Grand Final last Saturday.

It is unknown at this time if Ruscoe will look for another league job.

The delisted free agency season for this year is set to start on November 1st.
