Leicester City coach and CEO disagree on the issue….

Nine wins from the first 10 Championship games is “not normal” and that’s proven by the records of the division’s other big clubs, Leicester City manager Enzo Maresca has said.

An excellent second-half display saw City beat Preston 3-0 on Wednesday night, returning to the top of the Championship table with 27 points from a possible 30. It is the best record any side has had after 10 games since the division’s rebrand 20 years ago.Norwich City 0-2 Leicester City reaction: Maresca's thoughts after Iheanacho and McAteer extend perfect away run - Leicestershire Live

Rivals continue to point to City’s Premier League quality, but Maresca said in response that there are other big sides in the division who are not doing as well as City are, and so his players deserve credit. Fellow relegated outfits Leeds and Southampton have 16 points from their first 10 games and are 11 points off the pace City are setting.

“I’m happy,” Maresca said. “I just said to the players that what they have done until today is not normal. It’s not just because your club is Leicester that you achieve something like this. There are more clubs in the Championship this year, important like us, but they struggle. So it’s something important.

“The first thing I said to the players after the game was that you are doing something unbelievable. Don’t trust people, your friends, people from outside, who say that only because you are Leicester you can achieve that.

“There are more clubs that are important in the same way as Leicester and have important players. And they struggle. So what they have done is fantastic.”
