Heading into Wednesday night’s 3rd round clash against Liverpool

Leicester City are back in action in a hurry as they look to extend their winning run in the league to cup competitions this week.

The Foxes, who beat Burton Albion in the first round of this season’s Carabao Cup, will welcome Liverpool to the King Power Stadium in the third round following their 1-0 victory over Bristol City four days ago.

The game against Liverpool is likely to see both teams make changes in the midst of a busy fixture list. It could also provide City with an opportunity to give Conor Coady his debut. The defender has returned from injury and has been named in the team for the past three games, having been an unused substitute in the first three.

There is, however, some doubt over another centre-back in Callum Doyle, the Man City loanee who has featured in every City game so far this season under Enzo Marotta, but was stretchered off at half-time of the 2-0 win over Bristol City due to a knee injury.

The latest news from Seagrave’s physio room has confirmed that City are set to be without three players for Saturday’s match.

First up is Callum Doyle

The striker was stretchered off at half-time of Saturday’s game against Bristol City, and was pictured leaving King Power Stadium in a wheelchair with a brace on his knee.

Maresca’s injury update

“He had an issue with his knee,” Maresca said after City’s victory over Bristol City, “and they’ll do a scan on Monday to make sure it’s nothing serious because if it is, it’s a big loss for us.”

Potential return date: “We don’t know yet.”

Dennis Praet has been out of action for the past seven matches in all competitions due to a back injury sustained in the build-up to the clash with Huddersfield in the Championship.

Maresca said at the beginning of the month that it was a serious injury and that he could be out for around 10 to 12 weeks.

“It’s his back,” Maresca said. “I’m not sure when he’ll be back.”

Potential return date: vs Watford (h) on November 25.
