The Dragons have picked up one-time Maroons representative Corey Allan on a one-year deal for 2024.

St George Illawarra announced the 25-year-old, who spent last season with the Roosters, would join them immediately ahead of the new season, with coach Shane Flanagan lauding Allan’s ability to play across a number of backline positions.

Wests Tigers meanwhile have signed New Zealand Super Rugby outside back Solomon Alaimalo for the 2024 season.

The 27-year-old has made the switch to rugby league after playing several seasons with the Waikato Chiefs, and more recently with Canterbury in New Zealand’s National Provincial Championship.

Joining his new teammates for his first session of pre-season on Monday, coach Benji Marshall said the towering back will bring a wealth of skill and experience to the squad.

“We’re very excited to have Solomon join the club, he is a very explosive athlete with great speed, power, and agility,” Marshall said.

“He will also add leadership and experience to our group and is a man of great character.”

Manly have extended Haumole Olakau’atu on a mega six-year deal which will see the star second-rower remain at the club until the end of 2031.

Already signed for 2024 and 2025, the 25-year-old is now the longest contracted player on the club’s roster, set to be a Sea-Eagle until he turns 33.

Since making his NRL debut for Manly in 2019, the Tonga International has scored 29 tries in 73 first grade games.

The Warriors have signed veteran back-rower Kurt Capewell on a three-year deal effective immediately, after he was granted a release from the remainder of his contract with the Broncos.

The former Maroons representative and 2021 premiership winner will link up with the club on a deal that goes through to the end of the 2026 NRL season, after Brisbane released him with a year to go on his contract.

“We’re thrilled to be able to lock in a player of Kurt’s quality and experience immediately,” said Warriors general manager recruitment, pathways and development Andrew McFadden.

“Quite apart from what Kurt will provide as a player, he’ll be immensely valuable with his experience in a mentoring role for the young back rowers we have coming through the club.”

The Dolphins have upgraded promising playmaker Max Plath to the top squad and extended his contract until the end of 2026.

The Warriors also announced that centre Rocco Berry and second rower Jackson Ford have joined captain Tohu Harris in signing extensions with the club.

Harris agreed to terms on a new one-year deal which will keep him in Auckland until at least the end of the 2025 season earlier. Berry has signed through to 2026, while Ford has extended to 2025 – both players earning contract extensions following their strong performances this season.

The Roosters have secured the services of Wallabies rugby union winger Mark Nawaqanitawase on a two-year deal starting in 2025.

The club announced the signing of the 23-year-old on Thursday and confirmed he will remain in rugby union for 2024 before linking up with the Tricolours.

Sydney-born Nawaqanitawase played rugby league growing up before switching codes and to date has amassed 11 caps for Australia in the 15-man game.

The Cowboys have signed Super League middle forward Thomas Mikaele to a one-year development deal for the 2024 season. The 25-year-old New Zealand born prop made his NRL debut for the Wests Tigers in 2019 and appeared in 66 games for the club until departing for the UK Super League in 2022.

International forward Sitili Tupouniua will also be a Roosters player until at least the end of 2027 after inking a three-year extension with the club.

The 26-year-old has appeared in 85 games for the Tricolours since making his debut in 2018 and become a regular for Mate Ma’a Tonga at Test level.

His re-signing comes after the Roosters announced they had also retained forward Nat Butcher through until the end of the 2027 season with a new three-year deal.

The Sharks have signed former Bulldogs centre Michael Gabrael on a three-year deal. Having come through the Eels pathways program, the 18-year-old outside back has been secured with Cronulla’s full-time NRL squad until the end of 2026.

Gabrael’s signing comes after the Bulldogs secured Cronulla utility Connor Tracey on a three-year deal after being granted a release from his contract.
