£35m Wolves star player now set to leave Molineux

The defender was linked to the club last week, and it is only a matter of time before he is officially revealed as a new signing.

Jonny’s departure from Wolves has long been expected.

Gary O’Neil reported in December that the Spaniard was involved in a training ground incident, and he was later barred from playing for the first squad.

Wolves has the potential to ease his exit, and it is going to happen.

‘Deal agreed’ for Jonny Castro Otto to join PAOK from Wolves as a free agent

Jonny admits he feared for his Wolves future after second knee inury

Fabrizio Romano, a prominent journalist, stated yesterday night that this relocation is nearly complete.

He posted on X: “Johnny Otto leaves Wolves to join PAOK on a permanent transfer, contract agreed. Medical examinations on Friday, contract until June 2025 with an option for an additional season.”

Journalist Giannis Chorianopoulos, who has been covering the story since its inception, also claims that the move will soon be made official.

He will become the fifth first-team player to join on loan this month, following Sasa Kalajdzic, Fabio Silva, Yerson Mosquera, and Goncalo Guedes, all of whom had previously played for Benfica.

But there will be no return for Jonny, who was supposed to be PAOK’s major target.

A sad end for a once great player

This a move that is rather tinged with sadness.

When Jonny first came to Wolves on loan from Atletico Madrid, he really impressed under Nuno Espirito Santo and was an absolute staple pick at left wing-back.

He was such a reliable and consistent performer, and was like Wolves’ very own version of Cesar Azpilicueta. He was someone who would always give a 7/10 performance at the very least.

The two serious knee injuries he suffered undoubtedly had a major impact on him, and over the last two years he has been unable to return to his former glories.

Once the details of the recent training ground incident were made public, the writing was rather on the wall for him. It is very out of character what he did, but it was never likely that he would be staying out once everything came out.
