Update on Jayden Daniels’ injury: the LSU quarterback is expected to play against Florida after returning to practice.

Daniels sustained an injury in the latter half of LSU’s Week 10 defeat to Alabama.

Coach Brian Kelly told reporters on Thursday that LSU quarterback Jayden Daniels is “probable” for the No. 19 Tigers’ home game against Florida on Saturday. After being the target of a huge hit from Alabama linebacker Dallas Turner during LSU’s Week 10 road loss to the Crimson Tide, Kelly stated that Daniels is almost through the protocol clearance process.

After following protocol, Kelly stated that Daniels was “day-to-day” at the beginning of the week. He was given the all-clear to resume practice on Wednesday as LSU gets ready for the Gators, its yearly cross-division SEC matchup.

Turner was only given a roughing the passer penalty, but the hit that took Daniels out of the game against Alabama in the fourth quarter was investigated for targeting. Daniels tried to get back into action at first, but he eventually

Kelly stated on the c Show earlier this week that LSU sent a video of the hit on Daniels to the SEC office because they thought Turner’s hit should have been intended for Daniels. He informed reporters on Thursday that the hit “did not meet the standards of targeting,” according to the response from the conference.

Daniels transferred from Arizona State and is now in his second year at LSU. This season, he has thrown for 2,792 yards and 27 touchdowns with just four interceptions, making him the SEC’s top passer. In 2023, he has also gained 684 yards and six touchdowns through rushes. Before getting hurt, he scored three touchdowns against Alabama: two via passing and one via rushing.

Florida and LSU will kick off on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. ET.
