Steelers are reportedly set to land a top class QB
The former Pittsburgh Steelers adversary claims he has already been told what will happen.
The Pittsburgh Steelers are on the market for a quarterback, which has sparked speculation about every viable option. However, one former Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver claims that the team’s future starter has already been determined.
Chad Johnson, a former Bengals wideout, revealed on the Nightcap podcast that “a little birdie” has informed him that Denver Broncos quarterback Russell Wilson will sign with the Steelers this offseason.
“We gotta work on the Steelers now,” Johnson remarked. “A little birdie told me, and I said this many shows ago, Russell Wilson’s coming on over to the Steelers.”
Wilson is still under contract with the Broncos but is anticipated to be released before free agency. Russell is set to receive $30 million in signing bonuses from Denver, but the franchise is reportedly willing to accept a $86 million dead cap to move on.
The Steelers continue to believe Mason Rudolph and Kenny Pickett are their best alternatives this offseason, but that hasn’t stopped everyone from speculating on Pittsburgh’s next star quarterback. Along with Wilson, the Steelers have considered Justin Fields, Kirk Cousins, and, most recently, Jimmy Garoppolo.
Wilson, 35, has an overall record of 115-72-1 as an NFL starter. He went 7-8 with the Broncos last season before being benched due to injury concerns late in the season.
