Premier League club now set to sign Wolves star for £60m this summer

Wolves have several players who will be linked with a transfer away this summer, and speculation has already begun about one of their greatest assets.

Gary O’Neil is leading the Wolves to a fantastic season.

The Wanderers have already qualified for the FA Cup quarter-finals and are strongly in contention for European qualification, both of which were inconceivable when Julen Lopetegui left Molineux only days before the Premier League season began.

Given his good start at Wolves, speculation over his future has been prevalent; but, the 40-year-old has quelled that by informing supporters that he is not leaving.

Sadly, the same cannot be said for talented winger Pedro Neto, who is set to leave the club in the summer.

The 23-year-old has been a shining light for the Wanderers this season, and his torrid form, despite missing two months of the season, has sparked attention from Arsenal, Liverpool, and Tottenham.

Newcastle United, a Premier League competitor, has now entered the conversation.

Newcastle believe that they can recruit Pedro Neto for £60 million.

Wolves have previously stated that they will demand upwards of £80 million for Neto, and in this market, they are correct to set a high bar.

After all, the Portuguese superstar has tallied 10 assists and three goals this season, demonstrating his progress under O’Neill.

However, the Daily Mail adds that Newcastle’s club scouts have discussed the outstanding winger and feel a fee of £60 million will be sufficient to complete a transfer this summer.

If Wolves are holding out for £80 million, as reported by various outlets, the Magpies have come up short in wooing Neto away from Molineux.

Of course, this is news that no supporter wants to hear, but it does increase their prospects of earning a large sum for him.

Crucially, with numerous parties interested, Wolves can afford to let a bidding war break out, and knowing that his contract expires in June 2027, it’s best if he’s sold this summer, when his stock is at its peak.

For all of his brilliance, he has had his fair share of ailments, and moving him for the rumored £80 million will allow O’Neil to enhance numerous aspects of his team.

This will be critical if he leads them to Europe, whether through the league or by winning the FA Cup.
