Atlanta Falcons has completed the signing of a top class QB

With the arrival of quarterback Kirk Cousins, Atlanta Falcons receiver Drake London is regarded as a possible “breakout star.”

Among the many who are enthused about the new era of Atlanta Falcons football, with new coach Raheem Morris and Kirk Cousins at quarterback, third-year receiver Drake London may be the most delighted with the veteran’s addition.

The former first-round choice from USC has established franchise records for the Falcons in his first two seasons, and the best may still be ahead. According to a recent Bleacher Report report, the former Trojan could be a “breakout star” this season, thanks in large part to the Falcons’ signing of Cousins.

“The accuracy Kirk Cousins brings to the table will greatly increase London’s ceiling. According to Bleacher Report, Cousins had the greatest percentage of on-target passes among quarterbacks who made at least 200 throws last year. “His 82.2 percent on-target percentage ranks vastly ahead of Ridder, who put a meager 69.3 percent of his throws on target and often struggled to place the ball properly for London, Kyle Pitts, and the rest of Atlanta’s supporting cast.”

Even though London’s first two seasons in the league were marred by inconsistent and frequently below-average quarterback play, he established himself as Atlanta’s primary target.

London broke the Falcons’ record for most receptions by a receiver in their first two seasons with 141, beating the previous record-holder, Julio Jones, and those who came after him, Calvin Ridley and Mark Pritchard.

London finished the season with 905 yards and two scores on 69 receptions in 16 games. Despite having three fewer receptions and seven less targets, London’s stats improved from his rookie season.

London is the prototypical dimensions for an NFL outside receiver, standing 6-4 and weighing 213 pounds. In his two seasons, London has demonstrated that he can use his size to go up for jump balls or make hotly contested catches. With the arrival of Cousins, Bleacher Report believes this aspect of his game will propel him to new heights.

Obviously, given Cousins’ track record of dealing with young receivers, most recently Justin Jefferson and Jordan Addison, there is hope that he can do so again, this time with London.
