Payne was dealt from the Suns to the San Antonio Spurs this summer, but he was waived and became a free agent.

Shams Charania of The Athletic and Stadium reported on Sunday that Payne will sign with the Milwaukee Bucks.

According to Charania: “Free agent guard Cam Payne has agreed on a one-year deal with the Milwaukee Bucks, sources tell @TheAthletic @Stadium.”

Payne was selected 14th overall in the 2015 NBA Draft out of Murray State.

In addition to the Suns, he has spent eight seasons with the Oklahoma City Thunder, Chicago Bulls, and Cleveland Cavaliers.

In 327 regular-season games, he averaged 8.0 points, 2.2 rebounds, and 3.4 assists per game while shooting 42.0% from the field and 36.3% from three-point range.

The 29-year-old has appeared in 53 NBA playoff games and helped the Suns reach the NBA Finals in 2021 (they were defeated in six games by the Bucks).

The Bucks are coming off a season in which they were the #1 seed in the Eastern Conference and had the league’s best record (58-24).

However, they were defeated in the first round of the NBA playoffs by the Miami Heat.
