Wolves are likely to face one issue with ‘outstanding’ £60m ace in summer
Wolves lost 3-2 to Coventry City on Saturday, and after the game, Gary O’Neil stated Pedro Neto will be out for the rest of the season.
Neto was forced off during the first half of a recent match against Fulham.
The 24-year-old had left the game against Newcastle United at halftime the previous weekend due to hamstring soreness.
He lined up against the Cottagers, and after Wolves’ defeat to Coventry, O’Neil reminded fans that Neto is now fighting to play again this season.
It is a major blow for Wanderers as they look to earn European football.

Although there will be no pressure to sell players like there was last summer, Fosun wants the club to be self-sustaining.
Matt Hobbs, the club’s sporting director, has also said that selling one player this summer for a large price would be preferable to selling two or three for lower sums.
Fans expect Neto, who was praised as ‘excellent’ by Molineux great John Richards earlier this season, to be the man who leaves, although his injury record will be scrutinized by sporting directors at rival teams.
Journalist Alex Crooks spoke about Neto on talkSPORT’s Premier League All Access show, and he believes the Portuguese star’s injuries will be a concern for other clubs this summer.
He stated, “I do wonder if his injury record would deter teams from spending the type of money that Wolves will ask for this summer. We are talking about £60 million.
“He has missed an awful lot of football. I suppose if I were a sporting director, I’d be hesitant to invest money on a player who can’t keep healthy.”
Neto injury record will surely cost Wolves
There’s a fair chance Neto will still be sold for a premium price this summer, but his injury history will surely enter into any negotiations Wolves have with any club.
As Crook points out, Neto has missed a lot of football over the last few years.
He had a fractured patella in April 2021, which prevented him from making Portugal’s European Championship squad.
He subsequently had ankle ligament damage in October 2022, followed by two major hamstring injuries this season.
Surely, his injury record will cost Wolves at least a few million pounds that they could otherwise have demanded.
