Good News For Charlton Athletic :He is back

Charlton Athletic trio ‘closer’ to return as Nathan Jones shares update ahead of Exeter City trip

Charlton Athletic boss Nathan Jones has said Kayne Ramsay, Lloyd Jones and Chuks Aneke are all ‘closer’ to returning from injury.

Charlton Athletic are back in League One action tomorrow with an away trip to Exeter City.

The Addicks drew 1-1 against Fleetwood Town at Highbury Stadium in their last outing before the international break.

Asked regarding the fitness of Ramsay, Jones and Aneke, Jones has told the official club website: “They’re all much closer than what they were before the break, so the squad’s in a much healthier position.”

Charlton Athletic injury update

Charlton signed Ramsay on the final day of the January transfer window from Harrogate Town in League Two.

He penned a three-and-a-half year deal at The Valley and has since played twice for the London club.

The right-back, who was on the books at Southampton from 2017 to 2022, has been out of action recently with a hamstring injury and getting him back before the end of the season would be a boost.

The Addicks signed Jones last summer and he has since slotted into their team nicely in this campaign.

He has made 36 appearances in all competitions, 32 of which have come in the league, and he has scored twice from the back.

The centre-back has played for the likes of Liverpool, Northampton Town, Plymouth Argyle and Cambridge United in the past.

As for Aneke, Charlton have had to manage his game time recently. He has found the net once this term in 11 outings and it has been a frustrating period for the ex-Arsenal man.

The forward gives Jones more competition and depth up top and could do with getting some minutes under his belt before the summer.
