Pittsburgh Steelers are reportedly set to land another veteran player

The Pittsburgh Steelers are getting a closer look at one of their top prospects.

The Pittsburgh Steelers are taking a closer look at one of their top prospects, Georgia offensive tackle Amarius Mims, according to Ray Fittipaldo of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

Mims, a first-round pick in the 2019 NFL Draft, has previously visited with the Steelers at the NFL Combine and had dinner with head coach Mike Tomlin before his Pro Day in Georgia.

Fittipaldo revealed during a broadcast on 93.7 The Fan that the team has now invited him to a Top 30 Pre-Draft visit.

Mims is anticipated to be selected near the Steelers’ pick at No. 20. The Georgia Bulldog is a natural right tackle, but injuries have limited his NCAA career to only eight starts.

Amarius Mims Scouting Report | NFL Draft 2024

“Talented tackle prospect carrying a picturesque frame and exciting NFL traits,” NFL.com wrote on his draft profile. “… Mims has further growth to go, but he’s a Day 1 prospect with the attributes and talent to play either tackle position. He has a high ceiling, but issues about his lack of experience may curb initial expectations.”

Despite this, he is regarded as one of the draft class’s most promising prospects. At 6-foot-7, he might allow Pittsburgh to shift Broderick Jones back to the left side, with the two Georgia Bulldogs serving as franchise tackles going forward.
