CONFIRMED: WVU best player has enter the transfer portal

WVU forward Josiah Harris entering transfer portal

Roster turnover is common in today’s landscape of college athletics, particularly soon after a coaching change.

It continues within the West Virginia men’s basketball program, and on Monday, 6-foot-7 forward Josiah Harris announced his intention to enter the NCAA Transfer Portal following two seasons with the Mountaineers.

Harris moves into the portal as a graduate transfer after graduating early from West Virginia in December 2023. However, unlike the majority of graduate transfers, Harris has two seasons of eligibility remaining.

A native of Canton, Ohio, Harris played in all 32 games last season for West Virginia, starting 13 and logging an average of 19 minutes. He finished with averages of five points and 4.1 rebounds.

As a freshman, Harris played in 17 games as a reserve and averaged 1.8 points under previous head coach Bob Huggins.

Harris opted to stick with West Virginia through a coaching change that saw Josh Eilert replace Huggins and take over as head coach on an interim basis.

While Harris was in attendance for new head coach Darian DeVries’ introduction 11 days ago at the WVU Coliseum, he has opted to seek a new home.

Harris becomes the third player from last season’s team to enter the transfer portal, joining starting point guard Kerr Kriisa and Seth Wilson, who like Harris, hails from Ohio.
