Texas Longhorns land surprise commitment from Arkansas transfer Tramon Mark.

Tramon Mark, an Arkansas Razorbacks transfer, is joining the Texas Longhorns’ roster.

The Texas Longhorns made an unexpected addition to their roster on Sunday evening via the transfer site.

Tramon Mark, an Arkansas transfer and former Houston Cougars guard, committed to the Longhorns on Sunday, according to On3’s Joe Tipton. Texas grabbed Indiana State transfer Jayson Kent earlier in the day, but they have now made an arguably more significant move by adding Mark.

The Longhorns had no publicly publicized interest in Mark, so the move should take fans by surprise. Expect Texas to be busy in the portal for the next few weeks, as coach Rodney Terry and his staff still have a large portion of the roster to complete.

Mark, a native of Dickinson (Houston), Texas, began his career with the Houston Cougars, who were coached by Kelvin Sampson. He played at UH for three seasons, reaching the Final Four as a freshman in 2020-21.

Mark averaged a career-high 16.2 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 1.8 assists in 31 games for the Razorbacks last season. He scored 34 points in a non-conference loss to North Carolina, followed by 35 points in an upset victory against Texas A&M in January.

Instead of staying in Fayetteville to play under new head coach John Calipari, Mark is now heading back to his native state, where he will most likely be a starter for Terry alongside incoming five-star freshman
