Wolves interested in a”prolific” striker who’d be a dream next to Cunha

Gary O’Neil is looking for a few players to bolster his squad for next season…

Wolverhampton Wanderers drew 2-2 with Nottingham Forest in another Premier League game, failing to secure all three points.

The only true positive for Gary O’Neil was Matheus Cunha’s comeback to the starting XI, when he made his first start since February 10th and scored twice.

This might give the Old Gold a boost heading into the next few games, while the management appears to be looking for a potential partner for the Brazilian next season.

Wolves transfer news

Last season, the Molineux side scored the fewest goals in the Premier League, with 31. Although they have progressed significantly this season, it is evident that O’Neil intends to add some more attacking talent to his squad during the summer transfer window.

According to GIVEMESPORT sources, Wolves are now monitoring attacker Mohamed Amoura in preparation for a potential summer transfer.

They face competition from Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United, but if Spurs qualify for the Champions League next season, they will most certainly be the frontrunners for his services.

O’Neil may have to move a few players out of the club during the transfer window in order to complete the transaction, especially as Amoura is under contract with his present club, Union Saint-Gilloise (USG), until 2027.

Adding someone of his caliber to the manager’s attacking lineup would undoubtedly benefit the club, while also serving as a dream signing for Cunha, who might work well with the Algerian.

Why Mohamed Amoura would benefit Cunha

Cunha is presently the club’s leading scorer this season, with 13 goals in all competitions. The former Atlético Madrid forward has been deployed as a number 10 to devastating success this season, and he might complement Amoura.

Cunha not only has three assists from this position, but he also creates seven major chances and averages one vital pass per game while completing two dribbles per match, demonstrating his selflessness.

Amoura has been on fire for USG season 2023/24, scoring 22 goals in 40 matches and contributing six assists.

It’s little surprise that talent scout Jacek Kulig praised the Algeria international for his “incredibly prolific” performances right before Christmas.

Among his Belgian top-flight teammates, the 23-year-old now ranks second in goals and assists (19), first in shots on target per game (1.4), second in significant chances created (six), and fourth in successful dribbles per match (1.2), bringing similar traits to Cunha.

This might allow O’Neil to develop a deadly tandem, helping Wolves finish in the top half of the Premier League next season.

While the player’s current price is unknown, it appears that the Old Gold will have to pay a substantial cost, but based on his statistics this season, Amoura may be well worth it.
