SAD NEWS FOR GEORGIA BULLDOGS: I WON’T PLAY AGAIN

Georgia running back announces intent to enter transfer portal

With Georgia’s spring game completed, the transfer portal will now become a hot topic again

Georgia football and the transfer portal have a love-hate relationship, with the Bulldogs both gaining and losing key players thanks to its continued unchecked existence.

Just two days after the Georgia spring football game, the transfer portal has sucked in yet another Dawg, with redshirt sophomore running back Andrew Paul announcing via Instagram that he intended to shop his talents elsewhere.

Paul saw limited action in the 2023 season, and may have been hoping to move up the depth chart in 2024. The arrival of former Florida running back Trevor Etienne via the portal may have stunted that move for Paul.

Paul had four carries for 54 total yards — including a 25-yard scamper — and one touchdown in the 2024 G-Day game. While Paul split snaps between both the Red and Black teams, the bulk of the carries on the day went to sophomore Roderick Robinson, who had 11 rushes for 27 yards.

Georgia is also still eagerly awaiting the return of 5-star running back Branson Robinson, who missed the 2023 season with a knee injury. Robinson did not see the field during the spring game.

If Andrew Paul does end up leaving it won’t be ideal, but there are still plenty of quality bodies on the roster to hand the ball to. There’s also the chance Georgia could pick up another running back from the portal to make up for any potential loss of depth.

Portal movement is likely to be busy until is closes again on April 30, look for Kirby Smart to bolster the roster in more than one place by the end of the month.
