Mets key players suspended for 15 games due to……..

Ahead of their series finale against the Dodgers this afternoon, the Mets placed left-handed reliever Brooks Raley on the injured list with left elbow inflammation and called up right-handed reliever Grant Hartwig to take his place on the active roster.

Like many of the Mets’ relievers this year, Raley has gotten off to a great start. In 7.0 innings, he has a 0.00 ERA and a 1.94 FIP with 9 strikeouts and 3 walks. He dealt with a similar issue early in the 2023 season.

As for Hartwig, he’s thrown six innings in Syracuse this year with a 6.00 ERA and one inning at the major league level in which he didn’t allow any runs.

The fact that Reed Garrett has legitimately looked like a fantastic major league reliever in the early going softens the blow of losing Raley a bit, but the Mets’ bullpen will be in a better place if he is able to return to the active roster at the end of his stint on the IL.
