SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Utah head football coach Kyle Whittingham announced on the first day of spring practice that wide receiver Donte Banton and linebacker Sione Lund have been suspended indefinitely for violation of team rules.

Banton is a sophomore from Lauderhill, Florida. He played in 11 games last season and caught one pass for 10 yards against Idaho State. Banton was expected to be in contention for reps at wide receiver.

“Whether they get reinstated or not will be determined at a later time,” Whittingham told the media.

Whittingham also mentioned that defensive end Maxs Tupai will not participate with the team during spring football due to personal reasons.
