Steven Gerrard joined a host of current Liverpool players in sending a message to Jordan Henderson

Steven Gerrard joined a host of current Liverpool players in sending a message to Jordan Henderson on Instagram after the Reds confirmed that the midfielder has signed a new contract on Merseyside.

Henderson has put any speculation about his situation to bed. The club have confirmed on their official website that he has committed his long-term future to Liverpool.

According to The Athletic, Henderson is now tied down until 2025.

It comes after concerns had arisen over what the future held for the 31-year-old at Anfield.

The Athletic noted that talks had reached an impasse earlier in the summer. And at that stage, it is claimed that there were doubts over what may happen further down the line.

But the signs have been a lot more promising of late. And the news has now been confirmed that Henderson is not going anywhere.

Of course, with his deal set to take him up until the age of 35, there is a very good chance that Henderson could finish his career with the club.

And he has now taken to social media to express his delight about the announcement. He also lauded the fans for their support.

Several of his current teammates replied to his post. Andy Robertson has probably best summed up how a lot of Liverpool fans feel about the agreement with his response.

But there was also a message of congratulations from Gerrard…

Liverpool have not been the busiest in the transfer window. But as The Athletic notes, Henderson has joined a host of teammates in signing a new contract with the club this summer.

It is another fantastic piece of business from the Reds – particularly given some of the speculation from earlier on in the talks.
