Liverpool is one step closer to acquiring a replacement for Sadio Mane.

Following the disappointing end of the 2021/22 season, Liverpool has been looking to do some early business in the summer transfer market. Arnaut Danjuma, a player who has been linked with the club on numerous occasions, is now reportedly keen on a move to the Reds, bringing the potential transfer one step closer to completion.

Danjuma is coming off an impressive season with Villarreal, where he scored 16 goals and helped the club reach an unexpected Champions League semi-final.

Klopp, who was reportedly impressed by Danjuma’s performances against his team in the Champions League semi-final, is expected to look for offensive reinforcements this summer.

Sadio Mané’s possible departure will leave a gap in the Reds’ lineup. A gap that must be filled. Danjuma could be that man, and for a relatively low fee of £45 million, he must be an appealing prospect for the Liverpool hierarchy.

Villarreal’s failure to qualify for next season’s Champions League may be the deciding factor in this transfer saga, with a disappointing seventh-place finish in the league possibly discouraging Danjuma from remaining with the Spanish club.

All players want to play on the biggest stage, which Liverpool can provide Danjuma with after finishing second and securing Champions League football for another season.

If Mané does leave for another club, Danjuma will almost certainly be introduced as a new Liverpool player. This signing would demonstrate the Reds’ determination to avenge their Premier League and Champions League losses.
