Mohamed Salah is weighing his options as his contract at Liverpool expires next summer, and the winger has been promised a free agent move to Barcelona.

Mohamed Salah told close friends that he was ready to commit his future to Liverpool, but he changed his mind after Barcelona promised him a move next summer.

With his current contract expiring next summer, the Egyptian winger is weighing his options. Salah has stated that he will remain with the club next season, but there are questions about who will be his employers after that.

The Reds have been in contract extension talks since last summer but have yet to reach an agreement as Salah seeks a substantial pay increase. While Liverpool is hesitant to change its wage structure, they remain hopeful that they can meet him somewhere in the middle.

If Salah does not sign an extension this summer and Liverpool keeps him after the transfer window closes, he will be a free agent in a year.

This will bring several clubs into the picture, and Mirror Football can exclusively reveal that the forward has been promised a free transfer to Barcelona next summer. It is believed that Barcelona’s verbal offer is a major factor in the forward’s refusal to sign a new contract with Liverpool, despite informing close friends a few months ago that he was ready to sign a new contract with the Merseyside club.

Before Liverpool’s Champions League final loss to Real Madrid, Salah confirmed he will return to Anfield next season. “In my mind, I don’t focus on the contract,” he explained. I don’t want to be selfish in any way. I stated two months ago that it is all about the team. This is a critical week for us.

“I’m just focused on the team and winning the Champions League again. I want to see Hendo [Jordan Henderson] with the trophy in their hands and hopefully, he gives it to me. I don’t want to talk about the contract now, I’m staying next season for sure, that’s clear.”

Liverpool will be hoping that Jurgen Klopp’s recent contract extension, which keeps the German in charge at Anfield until at least 2026, will persuade Salah and Sadio Mane, who is in the same situation as his teammate, to commit their future to the Reds.

However, Klopp does not believe it will be decisive. “That is more a question for the boys, what it means for them, but everything is fine, my relationship with them is great,” he explained.
