Caoimhin Kelleher has spoken about what lies ahead for him as Sadio Mane’s transfer saga continues.

Caoimhin Kelleher has admitted that he is unsure about his future next season.

The Liverpool goalkeeper is highly regarded, but he is clearly second-choice behind Alisson Becker.

Kelleher, 23, appeared in eight games for the Reds during the 2021-22 season.

One of those appearances was in February’s Carabao Cup final victory over Chelsea at Wembley, where he emerged as Liverpool’s hero.

The Cork-born goalkeeper scored from the penalty spot before Blues counterpart Kepa Arrizabalaga hit the crossbar. As a result, Jurgen Klopp’s team won the trophy after an 11-10 shootout victory.

Speaking while on Republic of Ireland duty, Kelleher admitted that he will discuss plans for next season with the Anfield hierarchy.

As per the Irish Independent, he said: “I’m not sure on what’s happening yet. I’m still finishing this season and then we will have conversations after that to see what happens.

“I’m not sure yet. Obviously, I need to play these few games and see what happens with these and maybe decide after that.”

Indeed, Keller is one of several Liverpool players who has refused to commit their future ahead of the 2022-23 season.

Sadio Mane

Sadio Mane’s precarious situation is well known among Kopites.

The forward’s contract expires in the summer of 2023, and he has yet to sign a new contract.

Mane, who scored 23 goals last season, said before the Champions League final loss to Real Madrid that he would reveal his plans after the game amid Bayern Munich links.

However, the 30-year-old has yet to do so.

Speaking on international duty, Mane stated that 60-70 percent of Senegalese people want him to leave Anfield, and he will listen to their advice.

Adrian

Since joining on a free transfer from West Ham in 2019, the goalkeeper has provided adequate backup.

However, with the rise of Kelleher, he has recently found himself in third place.

Adrian made only one appearance in 2021-22.

He hinted, at the age of 35, that he might want to play more frequently in his later years.

“Alisson is one of the best goalkeepers in the world,” he told Cadena SAR before the Champions League final.

“We all want to play, and this season has not been as I would have liked. When we finish the season, we will evaluate; I still have a lot to contribute.”

Nat Phillips

The center-back heads into the summer in an uncertain position.

While he’s loved by Klopp and his staff, breaking into Liverpool’s defensive plans will be difficult for Phillips.

Before leaving on loan for Bournemouth, he was a fifth-choice center-back.

The center-back is in a precarious position heading into the summer.

While Klopp and his staff adore him, Phillips will have a difficult time breaking into Liverpool’s defensive plans.

Prior to joining Bournemouth on loan, he was the club’s fifth-choice center-back.

Neco Williams

The young right-back also left Anfield for the Championship in January, joining Fulham.

And, like Phillips, Williams earned a promotion and a winner’s medal.

The 21-year-old, who helped Wales qualify for this year’s World Cup with a 1-0 win over Ukraine in March, admitted in March that his game-time on Merseyside is limited due to the caliber of players ahead of him.

With Trent Alexander-Arnold on the way out, Joe Gomez under contract, and the versatile James Milner signing a new deal, Williams’ situation may worsen once more.

“As footballers, you just want to play as much football as possible,” he said in March while on international duty.

“I’ll have limited game time at Liverpool because of the players ahead of me and the world-class players I’m with.”

“Previously, coming to Wales was about trying to maintain fitness, but for this camp, I’m playing regular football, enjoying it, scoring, assisting, so it’s going well and I feel I’m in the best shape I can be in.”
