Liverpool’s star demonstrates why Klopp dubbed him “crazy.”

This week, Liverpool star Luis Diaz was spotted training with his old club, Atlético Junior. The Colombian hasn’t exactly taken a vacation.

Liverpool’s season ended a little more than a week ago. The Reds played every possible game during their 2021/22 season, resulting in a demanding schedule. The Champions League final ended it, albeit with disappointment.

Of course, some of the players immediately joined their national teams. Those who did not go on vacation to rest up for the new season.

All but one, it appears. Luis Diaz has returned to Colombia, but instead of relaxing on a beach, he is training with his old side.

The winger was spotted working out with Atlético Junior, the club that gave Diaz his big break before selling him to FC Porto in 2019. The player appears to still have good connections there, as journalist Pipe Sierra shared a photo of Diaz enjoying a session.

Luis Diaz off training in Colombia

The natural reaction to this is ‘he should be resting!’, of course. In all honesty, though, this is completely harmless and Diaz is almost certainly going through less strenuous stuff than anyone who’s with a national side.

The Liverpool midfielder was absent from Colombia’s recent friendly against Saudi Arabia, presumably to rest. Diaz is still getting time off, even if he isn’t exactly resting.

So, really, this is just the latest indication that Diaz adores training. Jurgen Klopp addressed this in April, saying it’s ‘crazy’ how much the player smiles in training.

“I had no idea how much he enjoys training,” Klopp said, according to Liverpoolfc.com. “I’m not sure I’ve ever seen anyone like that.

“As I previously stated, he cannot stop smiling during training. He simply cannot stop himself. It’s insane.”

Diaz is simply enjoying the type of vacation he desires – more football. Liverpool can simply accept the fact that they have a player like that, who is quickly emerging as one of the most exciting in the game.
