Pep Guardiola may sign his own Reece James as Manchester City prepares a “eye-watering” bid for the £50 million dynamo.

Manchester City has a history of securing summer transfers for players from other Premier League clubs.

Players such as Jack Grealish, Riyad Mahrez, John Stones, and Kyle Walker have all moved to the Etihad Stadium from other Premier League clubs.

Another Premier League player linked to the Citizens in recent weeks is Chelsea’s right-back, Reece James.

However, it has been reported that Chelsea is looking to tie the defender down to a new contract, which could jeopardize City’s chances of landing the Englishman.

With that in mind, Brighton & Hove Albion full-back Marc Cucurella is another Premier League player Pep Guardiola’s side could look to sign this summer as their own version of Chelsea’s star.

After being linked with a move for the Spaniard in recent weeks, City manager Pep Guardiola is said to be a big fan of the left-back and would like to have him in his squad.

Cucurella and James have both demonstrated their defensive and offensive capabilities during previous Premier League campaigns.

Last season, the pair combined for 177 crosses, 103 dribbles, 95 interceptions, and 86 successful tackles in 62 league appearances.

According to Football Transfers, James is on a list of players who are similar to the Brighton figure.

In terms of a possible move to City for Cucurella this summer, The Athletic’s Brighton journalist Andy Naylor said it would take an “eye-watering” offer for the Seagulls to sell their left-back during this window.

In fact, it has been reported that the south coast club values the defender at £50 million, implying that the Citizens would have to pay this amount to sign him.

After demonstrating his ability to play in the Premier League and be a useful figure all over the pitch, the club may be willing to pay Brighton’s asking price for him.

Moving forward, if a move for James is out of the question for this summer, launching a move to sign Cucurella could be a wise move by the Premier League champions, allowing them to continue their track record of signing other players in the division.
