One Tottenham Hotspur player consistently wins fitness drills in training.

According to Football.London, Oliver Skipp is currently the best performer in Tottenham Hotspur’s training sessions, consistently winning fitness drills over the last month.

Skipp is one of the most exciting prospects to have emerged from Tottenham’s youth system in recent years. Skipp, who is well-liked at the club, caught the eye during his loan spell at Norwich in the Championship in 2020/21.

He made 47 appearances for the Canaries as they won promotion from the Championship (Transfermarkt). Skipp also finished third in Norwich’s player of the year (Pinkun) awards that year, an impressive feat for a young loanee.

Since returning to his parent club, Skipp’s progress has been halted somewhat by a string of injuries. He only managed 18 league appearances last season (Transfermarkt), missing the second half of the campaign due to a hip problem.

The 22-year-old is back in the team now though and was in the starting line-up for the defeat to Newcastle at the weekend. It’s clear to see why Conte wants him playing too, as the report from Football.London highlights Skipp as one of the fittest in the squad.

Skipp has been leading the way in training over the past four weeks when it comes to fitness tests within the squad.

This aligns with the fact that Alasdair Gold reported Skipp was in the top two fittest players in the Spurs squad during the pre-season tour too. Those fitness levels will have to be maintained, with Spurs not wanting any more injury worries for their depleted squad.

Spurs Web Opinion

Having Oliver Skipp back, and seemingly back to top condition, is such a blessing for this Spurs squad. He’s such a driven and tireless midfielder, who obviously loves the club too, and you can never have enough players like that on the team.

It will be great to see him continue his development this season, and hopefully, he can fulfill the great potential we know he has.
