Manchester City Will Not Give Up On This Talented Starlet: A Future Star?

According to a recent report, Manchester City is unwilling to give up on Vasco da Gama starlet Andrey Santos. The Manchester giants are reportedly interested in signing the Rio de Janeiro-born talent.

The Ascension of Santos in Brazilian Football

Santos rose through Vasco da Gama’s youth ranks and deserves a lot of credit for establishing himself as a valuable member of their senior team. In 33 league matches for the Brazilian club this season, the 18-year-old

The gifted midfielder has caught the eye with his performances at the center of Vasco da Gama’s midfield. Despite failing to register an assist, he has done well to score a handful of important goals for them during this campaign. Hence, it is no surprise that a top club like Man City is hoping to acquire his services next year.

His current contract with the Brazilian club is set to run out in 2027, so Pep Guardiola will have to pay a hefty fee if he wants to secure his services this January or at the end of this campaign.

Manchester City Unwilling To Give Up On Andrey Santos: Is He A Prospect For The Future?

Santos has developed a knack for scoring goals from midfield and can set up some inviting chances for others around him in the final third. He is a technically gifted footballer who has already begun to shine in the Brazilian Serie B. The Brazilian prospect mainly operates as a defensive midfielder but can also play as a box-to-box midfielder or as an attacking midfielder if his manager tells him to do so.

We can expect Santos to be an excellent long-term signing for Man City if they can devise a way to get him on board soon. He is already good enough to play a sporadic role in Pep Guardiola‘s squad.

However, more realistically, Santos will probably have to prove his worth in Man City’s world-class academy before he gets a chance to shine for their first XI.

Santos has got the potential to become a future star in European football, so the Mancunian club would do well to lure him to the Etihad Stadium next year. At 18, he is still quite raw and would need time to settle into life in Manchester. However, his ceiling is sky high which would make him a success story at Man City in the long run.
