Tottenham could now see a £25 million deal. After a massive club scandal, a World Cup star has collapsed.

Tottenham could now miss out on the signing of Weston McKennie due to the ongoing investigation surrounding Juventus and the aftermath that could befall the Serie A side in the coming days.

According to CalcioMercato, the current scandal engulfing Juventus means it is difficult to imagine Tottenham transfer guru Fabio Paratici doing business with the European side, with the Spurs official one of the figures being investigated by the Italian police.

As a result, it is unlikely that Tottenham will move for McKennie given how much such a deal could do to hurt Paratici’s reputation as well as Federico Cherubini’s, the current Juventus sporting director who is also likely to be investigated by Italian officials. As per the report, McKennie impressed at the 2022 FIFA World Cup and Juventus had hoped to sell the midfielder to Tottenham in a deal worth €30m (£25m). However, last week’s revelation of the entire Old Lady board resigning has thrown a huge spanner in the works, with Paratici potentially in the crossfire as well.

Indeed, there’s no telling what could happen in the coming weeks with Juventus and Paratici. But based on the current temperature of the Italian giants, it seems unlikely that McKennie will be sold to Tottenham given who will be sitting at the negotiating table for the Premier League side.

The coming days are sure to be interesting as more details about the investigation continue to unfold. But one thing that is seemingly becoming clear for Tottenham is that their January transfer plans and their vision for the future could soon be about to take a huge hit.

A storm is brewing over Italy’s biggest and most successful football club, and it could see Paratici becoming the center of the chaos if current allegations surrounding the Tottenham figure are proven to be true, with the consequences set to be even bigger than just missing out on McKennie.

With arrest warrants reportedly being made, there’s no telling what damage could be done in the coming days for Juventus. And for Tottenham and Paratici, there’s every reason to believe that the north London club could soon be on the lookout for a new transfer man to help Antonio Conte in the coming windows.
