Regarding Tottenham’s January transfer plans, Antonio Conte has already asserted that it is the “best solution.”

A look at what Antonio Conte has said about Tottenham’s January transfer plans ahead of the window opening.

Antonio Conte, the manager of Tottenham, has already discussed his upcoming acquisitions in January.

Spurs, who were anticipated to compete for the Premier League title this season, have had a mixed season thus far. Instead, despite having played one more game, Tottenham is currently in fourth place and eight points off of the lead held by Arsenal. After the World Cup break, Conte and his team will be under pressure to improve, but it won’t be an easy task.

The number of games players like Harry Kane and Son Heung-min are required to play for the club and country is not helping Tottenham’s inconsistent play this season. Conte forewarned of this Spurs team’s need for assistance in late October if it was to compete at the highest level in both the Premier League and the Champions League.

“I think the club understands very well the importance of bringing players, important players, in January or in the summer,” he said. “This season will be much more difficult than last season because after the transfer market you have seen many teams have improved a lot. You have to face a lot of big, big teams.

“For sure it will be the time to speak with the club at the right time to understand which is the best solution for us.”

Tottenham is likely to search for a center-back during the winter window, while Conte may also look to add a new wing-back to provide support to the likes of Ivan Perisic and Emerson Royal. If time and money remain, Spurs will likely look to add competition and an understudy to Dejan Kulisevski, a need that was highlighted after a recent thigh injury to the Swedish forward.

Though, all that is much easier said than done in the notoriously tricky January window.
