After a disastrous performance in a 2-0 loss to Aston Villa, a Spurs player was told he will never play for the club again.

Spurs player Bryan Gil has been slammed by his own fans who think he has played his final game after an abject display against Aston Villa.

Spurs were not at the races whatsoever and lacked any kind of fluidity in attack. Gil started on the right flank alongside Harry Kane and Heung-Min Son, with Dejan Kulusevski ruled out with a “slight muscle injury”.

It was Gil’s first-ever Premier League start and you could see why as he struggled to impose himself and link up with his fellow forwards.

There weren’t many who performed well for Spurs in the 2 pm kick-off but Gil, a £21 million signing from Sevilla in 2021, took the brunt of the criticism on social media after being hooked in the 62nd minute.

One user wrote: “Bryan Gil won’t start another game for the spurs ever again, later pal.”

Another said: “Who told this Bryan Gil guy that he was a football player?”

A third opined: “Bryan Gil should head back to Spain and have himself a good career there playing for likes of Betis, Valencia, Villarreal, etc. He’s not made for English football.”

A fourth added: “Bryan Gil is not suited to this league. Offered basically nothing. The downgrade from Kulu to him for this game was enormous. Needs to be sold.”

A fifth commented: “That Bryan Gil got a massive future in the Spanish second division.”

Spurs, who were booed off when the full-time whistle sounded, remain fifth in the Premier League, two points behind fourth-placed Manchester United after the dismal defeat.

Liverpool can go above Spurs if they beat Brentford in Sunday’s evening kick-off.

Gil has played the vast majority of his games for the Spurs as a substitute and it doesn’t look like it will be changing anytime soon if he stays put.
