Spurs are negotiating a £92 million January transfer swoop behind closed doors.v

With a combined total of 25 appearances in the Portuguese league this season, the pair have delivered six goals and nine assists between them.

Both players also have a previous connection to England as Porro was once on the books at Manchester City, while Edwards made his way through the youth ranks at Tottenham before leaving in 2019.

Now though, the duo could be on their way back to England during the current January transfer window.

According to a recent report from the Daily Mail, the Lilywhites were in talks with the Portuguese club on Wednesday over potential deals for the pair.

The report also adds that Porro has a release clause of £40m and Edwards has one worth £52m, meaning that unless Sporting are willing to sell both players for a fee lower than their current release clauses, signing the two players could cost Spurs close to £100m.

In addition to scoring five goals and providing four assists in the league this season, Edwards also has the highest rate of shot-creating actions (5.63) at the club, as well as making more goal-creating actions (11) than any of his teammates.

The Englishman has also made more successful dribbles (24) than anyone at Sporting this term.

Porro’s suitability on the right-hand side, meanwhile, could be of use to Antonio Conte, who has struggled to settle on a top-class option at right wing-back all season.

Taking all of this into account, it’s clear that if Spurs were able to sign both Sporting players in January, this would surely strengthen their squad and give them two capable attacking figures that could help fire the team into a Champions League place by the end of the season.
