PSG makes a’strategic’ transfer choice on a Leicester City target.

The latest Leicester City transfer news as the Foxes compete with clubs around Europe for Azzedine Ounahi’s signing.

Leicester City has received a potential boost in their pursuit of Moroccan midfielder Azzedine Ounahi in the January transfer window.

The Foxes are one of the numerous clubs understood to be interested in signing the 22-year-old after his exploits at the Fifa men’s World Cup in Qatar. He played a key role in the Atlas Lions’ historic progression to the semi-finals last month.

Many clubs around Europe have been linked with Ounahi, including Barcelona, Sevilla, Napoli, and Marseille as well as City. Unsurprisingly, Paris Saint-Germain has also been credited with an interest in signing him from Angers.

However, the French powerhouse “will not go for” Ounahi, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano. The transfer guru says that the youngster is “not part of plans” for the Parisian outfit as sporting advisor Luis Campos will direct the club under a “different strategy”.

PSG already have Warren Zare-Emery, a 16-year-old prodigy, in the same position, and they aim to “trust their own skills,” according to Romano. When he was named to the squad for last week’s Coupe de France encounter against Châteauroux, the French youth international became the club’s youngest-ever starter.

In December, it was claimed that City had made an approach to Angers for the player valued at roughly £27 million. The Ligue 1 club is thought to desire a greater sum and is willing to bargain.
