The club is attempting to sign a Leicester City player as the manager considers a transfer.

Latest Leicester City transfer news as Stoke is reportedly trying to sign goalkeeper Daniel Iversen

Stoke City is “trying to sign” Leicester City goalkeeper Daniel Iversen, according to reports.

The Dane has worked with Potters boss Alex Neil before during a loan spell at Preston North End, and Neil wants to reunite with the stopper once more. Iversen is said to be one of two goalkeepers Stoke is trying to sign but is their preferred option over Birmingham City’s Neil Etheridge.

Iversen is currently the second choice at City behind Danny Ward, though he is ahead of summer arrival Alex Smithies in the pecking order. He has only made two appearances for City this season, in Carabao Cup victories over Stockport County and Newport County respectively.

According to journalist Alan Nixon, Stoke remains keen on Iversen this month. They are looking for a goalkeeper after selling former England youth international Joe Bursik to Belgian side Club Brugge earlier in the window.

It looks unlikely City would allow Iversen to leave this month without signing a replacement. Young goalkeeper Jakub Stolarczyk is back at the club, and in theory, could be the third choice behind Ward and Smithies, but Leicester would prefer Stolarczyk to go back on loan in order to gain more experience in senior football.

Leicester has been briefly linked with Newcastle goalkeeper Martin Dubravka this month, but there are other positions manager Brendan Rodgers is prioritizing in terms of recruitment this month. Left-back Victor Kristiansen has already signed, with a center-back and right-sided winger wanted.
