‘On Wednesday,’ Romano provides an update on the ‘ideal’ Spurs target, who could replace Danjuma at N17.

Tottenham Hotspur has had a busy day in terms of transfers.

Spurs are reportedly closing in on a loan deal for Arnaut Danjuma, who was expected to join Everton.

Indeed, the Netherlands international is expected to undergo a medical with Tottenham this evening.

Fabrizio Romano has now provided an update on a player Spurs have been trying to sign all month.

Tottenham is still in talks with Sporting CP about signing Pedro Porro, but the player’s club is being stubborn.

Sporting has repeatedly stated that they will not sell Porro for less than his £40 million release clause.

Tottenham, on the other hand, continues to work hard in search of a good solution for both clubs.

Romano has taken to Twitter to claim that the Spurs will hold a new meeting about Porro on Wednesday.

Tottenham reportedly made an offer of €37 million (£32.5 million), but Sporting rejected it.

Spurs will now “hope to persuade Sporting with add-ons and/or a player in the deal,” according to Romano.

Alasdair Gold provided an update on Tottenham’s stance on signing Porro earlier on Tuesday.

‘There is a feeling the transfer could still go either way this week,’ the journalist wrote on football. London.

‘There has definitely been progressing made, with a belief that the Portuguese club has begun to shift away from their initial insistence on the all up front £39.5m release clause needing to be met,’ Gold added.

Tottenham receives a significant upgrade – TBR View
Although Emerson Royal and Matt Doherty have been effective at times – the former particularly so against Fulham – Porro would be a significant improvement over both.

Indeed, the Portuguese talent has been dubbed the “ideal” player for Antonio Conte’s system.

Tottenham will hope to complete a deal with one week remaining in the transfer window. It’s not easy, but things appear to be moving in the right direction.
