According to reports, PSG has begun talks with a’spectacular’ Liverpool transfer target.

PSG have reportedly opened talks to sign Olympique Lyonnais wonderkid and rumored Liverpool target Rayan Cherki, with the 19-year-old viewed as a replacement for Pablo Sarabia.

According to L’Equipe, the French giants are looking at the ‘spectacular’ teenage attacker following Sarabia’s move to Wolves earlier this month, with PSG now in talks to sign Cherki in what would be one of the most surprising deals of the January market so far.

Regarded by many as one of France’s most exciting talents, Cherki has been a regular for Lyon since the age of 16, with the versatile forward breaking numerous records with his boyhood club and attracting some major interest along the way, including from Liverpool.

As reported by AS, the Reds are keeping tabs on the forward and have been scouting Cherki for quite some time, though this latest update from France could potentially throw any potential Liverpool move right out of the window for good.

Whilst PSG’s attacking options are arguably the best in club football, adding Cherki to the mix is a smart move from the Parisian giants, with Lionel Messi likely to leave in the next 18 months and Kylian Mbappe’s future still under scrutiny despite his new contract earlier in the season.

Indeed, with Neymar and Hugo Ekitike likely to stick around at PSG for some time, signing Cherki now is a good long-term move from Christophe Galtier and his team, with Liverpool now also set to take a blow in missing out on the Lyon wonderkid.

CHERKI SIGNING FOR PSG COULD BE BETTER THAN MOVING TO LIVERPOOL

With the signings of Darwin Nunez in the summer and Cody Gakpo in January, Liverpool’s long-term attacking options are essentially set, which is why Cherki joining PSG makes a lot of sense for the Lyon youngster.

As previously stated, both Messi and Mbappe are expected to leave PSG at the end of the season, and if Cherki can continue to develop while in Paris, the French club will have a readymade replacement for their two-star attackers in the Lyon prospect.
