Gordon transfer news, including developments in Everton and Newcastle talks that could lead to a deal.

Newcastle and Everton are squabbling over a £5 million difference in Anthony Gordon valuations.

The 21-year-old is at the center of an ugly transfer saga after failing to show up to training three days in a row in an attempt to force Everton to sell him to Newcastle.

The Toffees had demanded £60 million, which talkSPORT host Simon Jordan called ‘laughable,’ but that fee may have to be reduced significantly if Gordon is to move to St. James’ Park during the January transfer window.

Both clubs’ valuations are close, but not close enough, with a £5 million difference holding up an agreement.

But neither side is willing to budge.

“I’ve just received a message that, at the moment, the two clubs Newcastle and Everton are £5 million apart in terms of fee,” transfer expert Alex Crook told White and Jordan.

“So that doesn’t seem insurmountable, although the message does go on to say that neither party is budging at this stage.

“There you have it, hot off the press. Everton and Newcastle are $5 million apart in their valuations of Anthony Gordon, who desperately wants to move to St. James’ Park.”

Gordon was granted leave on Monday but failed to return to the club on Tuesday and Wednesday, following an incident captured on video in which Everton fans blocked the youngster’s exit from Goodison Park after the club’s defeat to Southampton earlier this month.

The England Under-21 international returned to training at Everton on Friday, as the club prepares to appoint Sean Dyche as their new manager.

What this means for the winger’s potential transfer remains to be seen, but time is running out for both clubs as the transfer window closes on Tuesday night.

It means that if a deal cannot be reached, Newcastle will have little time to find a suitable replacement, whereas Everton will have a difficult time finding a suitable replacement if a deal is reached.

The Goodison Park club has struggled in the Premier League this season, and manager Frank Lampard was sacked earlier this month, with the club sitting 19th in the table.

While they are only two points from safety, the Toffees have been in freefall, winning just once in their last 14 games.

Meanwhile, incoming manager Sean Dyche has been told by Arsenal legend Martin Keown that West Ham striker Michail Antonio is a ready-made replacement for Gordon.
