Tottenham have finally agreed a £42 million deal with Sporting Lisbon for Pedro Porro, according to Mail Online.

Tottenham has agreed to a £42 million deal for Sporting Lisbon star Pedro Porro, who will fly to London on Tuesday for a medical.

The transfer appeared to be in jeopardy after the Portuguese club called off the transfer despite a medical being scheduled for the star.

Those medicals were canceled before the player took a defiant stance, skipping training and attempting to force the move.

The price was raised from £39 million to £42 million on Monday evening, with Sporting asking Spurs to give up a percentage of their sell-on for winger Marcus Edwards as part of the deal.

‘I’m grateful to Sporting, I love the club — I didn’t train because I was only focused on the transfer to Spurs, but I will always be grateful to the club,’ Porro told Portuguese media as he flew to London for his medical on Monday.

‘I am very happy for this step, but I am also leaving a club that has given me everything, and I hope everything goes well for them,’ he added, before denying he forced the move.

‘I left a lot of friends here. They are aware that I have been extremely grateful to them since my arrival. Now I have to make my own life, pursue my dream, and hope that everything works out for the best,’ he added.

‘No, no,’ Porro said when asked if he refused to train. I simply inquired… they were negotiating, and my head was spinning. Sporting, on the other hand, understood very well, for which I am grateful.’

Porro has not yet spoken to Spurs boss Antonio Conte

Edwards, meanwhile, joined Vitoria de Guimaraes before joining Sporting in January 2022. The Premier League club’s financial representatives will make structured payments toward the total fee for the 23-year-old.

Tottenham’s interest in the Spaniard was first registered after a recent run of good form from the former Manchester City defender, including strong performances in their Champions League group stage meetings.

Porro has three goals and 11 assists in all competitions this season under Ruben Amorim, cementing his position as one of the Portuguese team’s most important players.

Tottenham is also open to last-minute departures, with two players potentially leaving the Premier League club.

Spurs are still willing to let Djed Spence go on loan to Rennes, while Bryan Gil has gone on loan to Sevilla.
