After struggling against Leeds, Alejandro Garnacho sends a message to Manchester United fans.

Erik ten Hag’s Manchester United were held to a 2-2 draw by Leeds United on Wednesday evening, and Alejandro Garnacho had his first game to forget.

Wilfried Gnonto’s superb strike put Leeds ahead in the first minute, and despite dominating the majority of the first half, United were unable to make a breakthrough.

Garnacho wasted two excellent chances to bring United level before the break, and Ten Hag’s side were punished when Raphael Varane scored an own goal in the 48th minute.

The 18-year-old was replaced just before the hour mark by Facundo Pellistri, and United went on to earn a point thanks to goals from Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho.

Garnacho received a lot of encouragement from United fans after the game, despite admitting that he had a bad night.

‘When you don’t understand what is happening, remember that God is in control,’ Garnacho wrote on Instagram following United’s draw with Leeds.

‘I believe in the plan you have for me.’

Meanwhile, during his post-match debrief, Ten Hag emphasized Garnacho’s two missed chances and claims United made the game more difficult by lacking a cutting edge in front of goal.

‘It proves once again that this is a good team with good character. We also played good football and created many chances, but what we lacked was being clinical in front of goal,’ said the coach. Ten Hag stated to MUTV.

‘Garnacho, twice in the first half; if you equalize before halftime, the game becomes much easier. You’ll fly if you get the equalizer soon after halftime.

‘Now you bring the opponent into the game twice, which is disappointing, but it was 2-2, and we fought back and scored great goals.

‘Be ready, be on the front foot when the game starts,’ was the first remark made at halftime. If you concede twice, you are not prepared for the game, and that is when I must criticize my team.
