Tottenham are interested in signing a’superb’ player who stated his desire to join Arsenal and even wore a Gunners shirt.

Tottenham Hotspur is considering a surprise move to sign goalkeeper Ben Foster, just months after the goalkeeper publicly stated his desire to join Arsenal.

Foster is one of England’s most experienced players. The 39-year-old played over 500 games for club and country over the years before retiring in September of last year.

Foster decided to retire despite being offered a contract by Newcastle United. He announced his retirement five months ago, but he could now make a surprise return to the Premier League with Tottenham.

Last year, Tottenham target Ben Foster expressed interest in joining Arsenal.
Following Hugo Lloris’ injury, Tottenham could turn to Ben Foster as emergency goalkeeping cover, according to the Mirror.

The Frenchman has ligament damage and will miss six to eight weeks of football as a result.

Tottenham have Fraser Forster as their backup goalkeeper, and he has plenty of experience. However, if he is injured, Spurs will be in a difficult situation, which is why they are considering bringing Foster out of retirement on a short-term contract.

That would not be a bad idea, but will Tottenham fans accept him after he publicly stated his desire to join Arsenal just eight months ago?

That is correct, after leaving

Foster, who currently plays for Watford, stated in a YouTube video that he would love to join Arsenal in the summer, even if it meant being the club’s second choice.

“That’s something I’d love to be able to do. “I’d love to do that,” he stated.

To make matters worse for Spurs fans, the Englishman has been seen wearing an Arsenal shirt on multiple occasions in his videos over the last few months.

Despite his past comments and actions in relation to Arsenal, Foster would be an excellent emergency signing.

The 39-year-old, described as a “superb” player by Chris Kirkland on talkSPORT, has a wealth of experience. He’d be a huge help behind the scenes for Forster, and he’s more than capable of stepping in if needed.

Foster can be signed for nothing because he is a free agent, but whether he is willing to come out of retirement remains to be seen.

It will be interesting to see how this develops over the next few days.
